A Deal to Boot.

Uhg. My obsession with shoes is one that might just be the end of me. Or at least the end of my bank account if I'm not careful. The problem is one part love for chaussures and two parts my insatiable desire to find a bargain. Combine the two, and like a lit match next to gasoline--you have a combustible situation. Tonight was my night people and I stress my innocence as a victim caught in the perfect storm.

Get a load of these babies...
Frye Tina Campus Boot

Do you love them? I adore them...which is why I couldn't leave them lonely on the rack. They needed a home and I was happy to accommodate : ) Best, best, best part??? Regular price $398...but I only paid $120!! Muahahaha! I always feel like I've gotten away with something sneaky when I stumble upon a deal that fantastic.

Can't wait to show you guys all of the lovely ensembles I plan to whip up with these beauties. I have a feeling these are going to be my new favorite pair of boots. And honestly why wouldn't they be? 2 1/2 inch heel and butter-soft leather mean I can walk for days and my feet won't hate me. Not to mention, the color and shaft height are super versatile; they'll look great with skinny jeans, leggings, dresses, skirts...you name it. Oy. Love them.

Happy Friday Peeps,

Happy Anniversary.

Just realized that it's been a full year since I started this thing. Crazy to think just how much has happened in my life over the last 12 months. Lots of change, some good, some scary...But life is good and I wouldn't change a thing. However, I wont bore you with my life story, you come here for fashion and that's what you're going to get ; )

My closet has changed quite a bit over the past year as well. In July I did a massive purge of anything and everything that I hadn't worn in the past 12 months. Amazing the amount of stuff I threw out! I know what you're thinking...that you could never do that. I mean what If you wanted to wear something that you purged and it was gone forever?? Allow me to debunk the myth. If you haven't worn it in a year you will NOT miss it. I promise you, I haven't gone looking for anything that I donated to the Salvation Army. Not to mention, the Great Purge (as it will hence forth be known) has allowed me to more easily see what I have and what I don't have, which makes my shopping excursions far more effective.

So, in honor of my one year blog anniversary--I am going to reveal what my closet looks like post-purge. That's right, I'm rolling back the doors of my life and taking you deep inside. Probably deeper than you'd like quite actually! Hopefully you get some ideas, and maybe feel encouraged to do some closet purging of your own. Enjoy : )

Living in an apartment--I have the standard sliding door mirrored wardrobe. However I did luck out with TONS of cabinet space in this place, and don't worry I have used every inch of it!

Here's the right side...

And the left...You will notice that I have no shortage of shoes...I'll spare you the ones under the bed : )

Some of my favorites include:

To help me keep things clear and uncluttered, I've organized my closet based on season. I move the current season to the front to help keep my regularly rotated items at easy reach. I know--it sounds annal but it really does keep me sane on Monday mornings.

I have my sweaters and cardigans in the front--mainly because I wear them so much. Also, because sweaters tend to be bulky, I prefer to keep them together and not interspersed with the rest of my closet.

Next I have my tops and button-up shirts. I think I have an oxford shirt in every color and pattern possible. They are my staple piece. You can wear them with anything and instantly feel put together. I wear them in the office, on the weekends--with dress pants or denim mini shorts. They are always a sure bet.

Pants and skirts are next on the list. Pants are always over a pant hanger and skirts are two to a clamp hanger. With my pants, I try to make sure the basics are covered every season with regard to cut and color. This season, I have my boyfriend ankle cuffed khakis, the ankle skimming narrow leg high-waist black trouser, the high-waist grey trouser, the white ankle skimming cigarette pant, my FAVORITE JCrew match stick cords in navy and brown, my crazy-lady JCrew yellow cords (yes they are yellow and yes they are a stretch, but I rock them proudly) and my stand-by linen pants. Skirts are similar but not quite as strict--I have a few circle skirts, my "all business, all the time" high-waist grey pencil skirt, a couple of tulip shapes and always fun patterns as you can see in the picture :)

Next are dresses. These are all of my summer styles--short and simple . I love this navy blue one that I snagged at The Gap. The longer sleeves give it a great feel when paired with the short hemline. I like to wear it with my white All Stars on Saturday mornings when I walk to Borders : ) Don't you love that? How outfits have stories? There are things in your closet that just lend themselves to specific activities and events and they become synonymous with memories and emotions--like that blue dress. Makes me feel immediately relaxed and peaceful as I picture myself pouring through a fantastic novel and sipping on coffee in the morning sun...

In the back is my winter wardrobe and my coats...why I have coats (as in plural) in Southern California, I may never know. Dresses for fall are darker..lots of black, brown and navy. I actually want to try and brighten things up this fall. Winter fabrics do exist in more eye-popping hues and I need to integrate some of them into my current color pallet. Thinking oranges, purples and I have been searching everywhere for the perfect electric blue...

Last, but never least--is my purse cabinet. I warn you--it's bad, so prepare yourselves. If you are a true purse lover, this may not be for you. Warning: Purses not in dust bags.

I gave you fair warning! This is my upcoming project. To rescue these poor guys from the hell hole that I currently have them crammed in. We'll see how it goes.

Well, there you have it. Way more of me than you probably ever wanted to see! But, hopefully a walk through my closet has helped give you some ideas for better ways to organize your own. And I hope if nothing else--I've encouraged you to think about making a trip to your local Salvation Army...to donate, not shop!

To those of you who have been reading for the past year or the past day--thank you so much for joining my ongoing conversation about life and fashion. This blog would be a personal diary without you : ) Here's to another year of life, love and fashion ponderings...

xoxo,

Loving the Neutrals

I would wear any of these items anywhere but in particular I imagine these dreamy hues on a date night. Perhaps partnered with a few glasses of wine, endless laughter and the perfect goodnight kiss ; )

All. About. Anna.

That's right kids. The day we've all been waiting for. Today was the day that Anna Sui's Gossip Girl inspired Target line dropped! Ready for some serious shopping, I hopped out of bed bright and early, threw on my denim minis, grabbed an Americano from Starbucks and was in shopping bliss by 9am.

Let me start by saying that Anna did not disappoint. This is by far one of the best designer lines that Target has released in a while. A slightly higher price point, averaging around $50-$70 per piece but well worth it considering the attention to design and detail. My recommendation? If you haven't made it out to your local Target yet, run don't walk because this fantastic line won't last for long.

Lucky for you, I went prepared with my camera : ) That's right--I remembered you in the midst of my shopping bonanza. So, sit back and relax; I've done the hard work for you.
Table Cloth Dress $69.99

Really liked this--however, wasn't so sure about the blue velvet bow. I can imagine it on Blair, but not me. Thought about buying it anyway and nixing the bow--I do think it would be adorable with black tights and mary janes.

Herringbone Dress $59.99

L-O-V-E this jumper and it fits perfectly. Would be great with a black turtleneck layered underneath and a pair of Chanel ballet flats :)

Silk Wrap Dress: Geo Floral $59.99

Loved the colors in this 100% silk dress. A chunky cable knit sweater and riding boots would turn this into the perfect fall look.

Silk Wrap Dress: Black $59.99

Same dress in black and white. Fantastic fit.

Silk Pattern Dress $59.99
The color and pattern in this dress was great. The wrapping in the silk bodice transforms this from a cute dress to a must-have piece. So girly-chic.
Silk Printed Tunic Dress: $49.99
Oy. How can I fully explain everything I love about this tunic in a few short lines? Well, here it goes. The colors, the pattern, the lacing in the front, the drape, the length, the sleeves, the fact that it's 100% silk, the pleating on the bottom and...I think that's it.

Wide Striped Cardigan $49.99

This little piece of heaven will work over jeans, leggings, dresses...anything. It is the perfect winter snuggle sweater : )

Floral Metallic Jacquard Dress $44.99

Dress, top, tunic--you name it this piece does it. SUPER versatile and I heart the bow around the neck.

So after I tried on just about everything in the store--it was time to narrow down my selections. As I surveyed each item, I weighed them based on: versatility, ability to withstand at least 2 seasons and how well they would integrate into my closet. So...drum roll please. These were my final choices!

The Wide Strip Cardigan

Can I tell you how much I love these babies?

Metallic Floral DressLook 1: With leggings and Chanel Ballet Flats Look 2.5: With the 5 inch Betsy Johnson's ; ) Look 3: As a dress with a black blazer and Banana Republic Chocolate Riding Boots Best boots ever. Have had them for around 4 years and wear them every fall. Look 4: With rolled up black skinnies and flats Yes...I am still rocking the rolled jeans. Judge me! ; ) Well, there you have it. Anna Sui for Target definitely made my Sunday--hopefully this rundown of the looks will help you navigate your way through the collection. What items did you score? How are you planning to wear them? Give me a shout!
